As another way to encourage his congregation spiritually and invite spiritual conversation, Pastor Omid from the Ottawa Persian church has started two Telegram messenger groups.
One group focuses on worship and has song lists for people to listen to on their phone wherever they go.
It’s a way for people to pray unceasingly and to seek first the kingdom of heaven.
In the other group, Omid asks a question or two to spark conversation.
For example, how has God touched you?
Or what is your favorite Bible verse?
People are invited to respond with stories from their own life or things they’ve learned about God.
Pastor Omid said that many from his church are participating – 41 are listening to the songs and are commenting how much they love them.
44 are participating in the other dialogue group.
He expects more and more Persian-speaking people will join.
It is remarkable that so many of the congregation are participating in these online interactive groups.
It is stimulating a warmth of fellowship and prompting connection among the various members of the congregation.
It seems like the Spirit is knitting them together as the body of God with Christ as the chief cornerstone.
