As Carrie went under the waters of baptism that Sunday morning, it was goodbye to all the spiritual roads that had led her to nowhere.
Astrology.
Soul Retrieval.
Earth-centered spirituality.
Kundalini yoga.
In her effort to find meaning and purpose and something beyond herself, she had tried all these things.
But they were dead ends.
In her words, they were “idol worship and absolutely futile in filling the void” in her life.
It wasn’t until one night she had a terrifying experience – something called sleep paralysis – where her mind raced but she couldn’t move her body.
It was terrifying and an awful sensation began to creep over her.
In her desperation, she cried out to Jesus.
JESUS! HELP ME!
And just like that, He was there.
She could see His light and instantly the sleep paralysis was gone and it never returned.
Later, during the thick of COVID, she was lying on her bed again, feeling like she was dying, and suddenly – she just knew.
JESUS IS REAL.
She knew that Jesus was actually there with her.
That moment changed her life.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
She’s a child of God and she has found her true home in Jesus Christ.
Her baptism was the beginning to new life – real life in Christ.
