Imagine telling Bible stories to children who are hearing them for the first time.
When Associate Pastor, Charlotte Weenink, introduced Adam and Eve to the children attending Elmvale Community Church’s midweek program for children called “The Hive”, there were blank stares.
One brave child ventured a guess – Mary and Joseph?
So Charlotte had the joy and privilege of telling the story of creation to children hearing it for their very first time.
This is what we used to read about in missionary accounts and stories from far off lands.
And yet – this is now and in our own communities.
Because Elmvale Community Church has invested in the community faithfully and with integrity over the years, parents are willing to send their children to their after-school program.
Children know that they’re safe and cared for as they enjoy snacks, games, crafts, and Bible stories.
Charlotte and her team have gained the trust of these children and parents and they’ve received positive feedback.
The fact that over a dozen unchurched children show up for “The Hive” every week is intriguing.
What is the Spirit doing?
What will be the stories that come out of this?
We don’t know – but we can have a positive suspicion that God is up to something good.
