Church Planting: Called to Toronto

How does a Danish guy end up church planting in Toronto?

Well, meeting a girl from Elmira might be part of that.

Along with a clear call to church planting that he experienced at age 17.

Someone laid hands on him and said “You have a duty to plant many churches.”

Prayer and time grew that idea.

The first church plant was in Denmark in 2015.

Then inl 2018 when he and his new wife moved to Toronto to plant Haven Church.

Jesper Jeppesen has always been drawn to big cities.

He planted a church in the second largest city in Denmark.

So Toronto was intriguing for him.

Even though someone told him that it’s hard to be a Christian in Toronto.

He’s also used to really secular environments – it’s not surprising to him that most people aren’t that interested in church.

The diversity of the city and the number of unchurched people drew his heart to Toronto – making it clear to him and Kira that this is where God wanted him.

Jesper hangs on to the Scripture that God gave him from Acts 18:9-10:

One night, the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision:

“Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent.

For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you,

because I have many people in this city.”

Let’s pray for Jesper and Kira and Haven Church Toronto!
