A pastor noted his desire for more Jesus-conversation.
He wondered what God might be inviting him into.
He found himself thinking about two family members who live across the country.
Maybe they would want to engage in some thoughtful conversation about faith?
So with a hopeful curiosity and confidence in the Spirit of God, he asked these two men if they’d like to read the Gospel of John together over zoom each week.
They said yes.
And it’s been so interesting what has happened during these weekly unstructured conversations about faith based on Scripture.
Small signs of fresh spiritual life seem to be growing.
There’s been an eagerness and enthusiasm to read Scripture.
To know Jesus.
There’s been a spiritual hunger – evident in their thoughtful and intelligent questions.
There’s been an articulation of their own desire for peace and truth.
It has exposed places in their lives that require healing and their need for community.
Who knows what might happen?
But he continues to pray and trust that God will finish the good work that He has started.
Even though the future is unknown, he’s got a confidence in God, marked by hope and peace.
