Christmas Eve plans weren’t going as planned.
A couple of the usual core people weren’t going to be there due to a family emergency.
That also meant they wouldn’t have a preacher – which is pretty key to a church service.
Especially for a special church service.
So they did what small town churches have to do sometimes – rely on an online sermon.
Not ideal – especially for Christmas Eve.
However, God doesn’t seem to be bothered by such things.
The sermon they chose aligned with their Advent series which was all about the Names of God.
That night as they gathered on December 24th, they listened to a sermon all about God as “I AM”.
It was powerful.
This is a small church plant – usually around 25 or 30.
But that night – the church was overflowing with more than 75 people gathered in.
Despite the key missing things and the second-rate substitute for a live preacher, God is still Immanuel.
God is still with us.
We may have our plans – and often they are good plans.
But really – in the end – God’s got this.
