“Where is God in all of this?”
This is a child’s question as she sees bullying at school and learns about her country’s history and the legacy of residential schools.
She wants real conversation.
She wants to be able to ask direct questions and get honest answers.
Thankfully, she has a children’s pastor and small group leaders at her church to talk with.
Kenzie Watson, Children’s Pastor at Lambrick Park Church in Victoria, BC, knows that this sort of conversation is important for children as they wrestle with the realities of life and faith.
Her previous experience working with trauma and addictions, coupled with her theoogical training, helps her as she helps children see the heart of God and understand social justice as a follower of Jesus.
Kenzie and her team of leaders want to equip and empower children to show God’s love and care in their own social circles at home and at school.
It’s questions like these that remind Kenzie that God is concerned about how we treat each other.
It’s more than just being nice.
It’s about embodying the hospitality, kindness, and deep compassion of God – and walking in the ways of Jesus.
Sometimes a child can point us towards the things that really matter.
