“We need Bibles” – Forestview Church

As part of her job at Next Door Social Space in Burlington, ON (a ministry of Forestview Church), Angie leads a coffee hour for women in the community.

There’s women from all over the globe – Mexico, South Africa, Jamaica and more, women of all ages (including someone who is getting close to 100!) and women from all sorts of backgrounds.

Some have Christian faith in their history, some come from other faiths, and some are new to thinking about spiritual things.

This fall Angie felt inspired to teach the women how to read the Bible.

She wanted them to know how to navigate the Bible – what do all the big numbers and little numbers mean?

She wanted them to know what the Bible was all about and really – she wanted them to learn to love God’s Word.

One of the challenges was the mismatched collection of Bibles at Next Door.

Having all the same Bibles would make it so much easier!

She reached out to a local church with a simple ask –

“We need Bibles for our ladies coffee hour.”

It was an immediate “Yes, absolutely.”

Pretty soon, a box of Bibles with beautiful leather patterned covers arrived.

The women felt so loved.

One of the Muslim women said, “This is a very special book.”

Week after week, they read their Bibles together.

Angie encourages them to mark up their Bibles – underlining, highlighting, writing notes on the side.

She’s trusting that the Spirit is at work and that God’s Word will not return void.
