During a period of extended renovations, the church realized they were making alot of noise and creating excess dust in the neighbourhood.
It’s a necessary part of renovations but they felt bad.
They thought – “What can we do for our neighbours?”
Just the fact that the church even asked this question reveals something about them.
Over the years, this congregation has developed a keen sense of mission and a compassionate heart for their community.
Not only are they aware of their neighbours, but they actively seek their good.
So what did they do?
They sent notes and Tim Horton gift cards to their closest neighbours surrounding the church- apologizing for the noise and thanking them for their patience.
When I hear this story, I can’t help but think about yeast and mustard seeds.
