Children + Adults + Seniors = Church Family – Varsity Bible Church

Meet Jenny.
She came on staff with Varsity Bible Church (Calgary, AB) about 5 years ago as the children’s pastor.
Her love for children and the desire to see them connected to God fuelled her as she taught children about knowing and loving Jesus.
She would often incorporate children into the adult worship service – having them read Scripture or participate in skits or object lessons.
The children were visible and the congregation welcomed them as part of the church family.

Our world today is often segregated according to age.
There’s things for the kids and things for the adults and often they don’t intertwine.
Except with the family of God.
Jesus modelled this love for children – telling people not to hinder them and to let them come.
How do we reflect this in our churches?

Recently, Jenny’s job description changed to Inter-generational Pastor.
It’s really beautiful, actually – to see how the church is seeing their congregation as a whole and desiring to connect kids and adults and seniors.
Now she gets to think about how to facilitate relationship between the various ages.
She describes it as a “spark” as different generations connect – saying eyes light up and stories are shared and people are known.

She says God is doing a new thing.
She’s so glad to be a part of it.
