Baptisms

A letter from a VMC pastor …

I’m writing to encourage you all.
A few years back, I remember a conversation where a friend asked in a moment of discouragement – “Do people still come to faith these days?”
It feels like most of the stories we hear right now are stories of deconstruction or loss of faith.

But friends – it is happening.
In and through and around us.

This past Sunday, I sat down at our Palm Sunday Potluck with some young adults that I’d never met before.
The fellow beside me – a young man from northern India – shared with me how in the last season he’d come to abandon his Hindu faith to follow Jesus.
He had questions about the gospel and baptism.
We met together the next day and had the most amazing conversation.
I’ll be baptizing him this Sunday – after the service.

In fact, we are baptizing five people – and a few of them having only recently encountered Jesus and been awakened to living faith.

People are responding to the nearness of God!
Pray that they will continue to grow in their knowledge of the love of God.
