Summer Camp Ministry

Summer is a time for adventure!

And this was true for a young Swiss woman named Rosalie who travelled to Quebec to help out with summer camp.

Read on for her reflections and learnings about God from her time in Canada.

“I went for 5 weeks Ste-Anne-des-Monts to help the Paquin’s with Camp de Jour Vis-la-Joie. The 3 weeks of camp where full of joy and I loved to see how God changed the hearts of the children, how fast they can learn a song and then sing it at every moment of the day and how happy they were to sing with us.

The first time I saw them all sing, I felt like God was telling me:

“Look, all what you do, your perseverance is not useless. I work in their hearts through your action and love “

I think what I learned is that sometimes God ask us to let go of things we care about. God asks us to sacrifice for the purpose of making us grow and to bless others through our actions. This made me grow in obedience towards God. It made me realize what is really important is what matters for eternity.

I learned too that serving is not a thing you do only when everything goes right or when you feel happy and when you feel like it. No, it is not that. It is every day of our life. Even when you would prefer to stay in bed, even if you don’t feel like it or that you might feel down. There is no specific mood for serving God.

It is in every moment, whatever you feel, even if you are alone. You get up and obey.

There is a phrase which struck me:

Believe and trust.

Then obey and get up to serve no matter what.”
