The church is part of the community like it’s never been before.
It’s like it’s regaining its original sense of mission and community focus again.
Back in the 60’s, the church was very much involved in community, then it became a commuter church due to population shifts.
And now it’s becoming a community church again.
Sue Craig is the Community Engagement Director for Don Valley Bible Chapel (Toronto, ON) and works together with social service agencies, community groups, and other churches as a network.
They coordinate their efforts for the good of the community, like offering a meal program.
The community leaders hadn’t met in person since Covid-19 so Sue hosted a meeting and potluck at DVBC and invited the local Member of Parliament.
It was a great time together – to see people working together for the good of the community.
The MP said that this is a group he needs to stay in touch with.
Sue believes that God put their church in that neighbourhood for a reason –
to proclaim and embody the Good News of Jesus.
And so that is their calling.
By the grace of God, their prayer is that people will come to know and love Jesus.
