Called to Chaplaincy

Mike is no stranger to the airport scene.

He spent 25 years doing health and safety training for the Airport Authorities at Toronto Pearson.

A few years ago, he began to see the airport as a local mission field and started volunteering as a chaplain one day a week.

Then he asked his employer to block off time for him so he he could do chaplaincy work two or three days a week.

When the senior chaplain planned to retire, Mike asked him, “Who’s going to take over for you?” He simply reached out and put his hand on Mike’s shoulder.

While figuring out how to do this during Covid; after a season of prayer with his young family and with his local church – Forestview Church in Oakville, ON, he said yes to full time ministry… along with his full-time job and taking biblical counselling courses at seminary.

It was quite demanding but also immensely life-giving. But after two years, the dual role had left Mike exhausted.

His good wife looked him square in the eye and said, “You have to choose.”

They both agreed to pray earnestly for discernment and financial supply for this ministry role and trusted the Lord for His provision.

Despite being offered a further promotion at work, Mike sensed God leading him to full-time ministry as an airport chaplain.

And he is all in.

Although Mike’s workplace hasn’t changed, God has given Mike an entirely new calling to spiritually care for the over 50,000 employees at Pearson International Airport.

If you’d like to support Mike, please let us know.
