Just to let you know that one of our VMC pastors – Dr. Samuel Voo from Granville Chapel, Vancouver, BC – will be teaching a course at Regent College this winter.
The course is called “The Cross, the Call, and the Church” and explores the Gospel of John and Luther’s theology of the cross.
Read the course description below:
This course is an exploration of exegetical, historical, and applied theology in order to ground both discipleship and ministry in the cross. Drawing primarily on two key theological resources—a theological-narratival reading of the Gospel of John and Luther’s theology of the cross—students will examine how cross-centered principles can shape identity, ministry, and practice. Building upon a biblical and theological foundation, students will grapple with practical scenarios, case studies, and reflections on their own ministry contexts to examine how the cross can shape ministry practices and paradigms – from navigating conflict, to discipling, to leading others within the church. Students will emerge equipped with a personal theology of ministry that finds strength in weakness, hope in suffering, and authenticity in vulnerability.
