Following the Path – Ben, Church Planter

There’s not a strict career path for church planters.
Of course, there’s lots of ways to get there and God’s creativity becomes obvious when we see people’s various paths.

Take Ben, for instance.
He was a young adults pastor, site pastor, and executive pastor.
He enjoyed his job but there was also this interest in church planting.
A persistent desire to investigate new ways of being and doing church centred around mission and the Holy Spirit.
So he took a church planting course at Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto.
Matt Pamplin from VMC taught the course with his colleague, John Bowen.
It was good – got him thinking more.

A few months later, Matt emailed him.
Said he was praying for him, as he does with his students.
At the same time, Ben accidentally stumbled came across a job posting from a VMC church and made the connection with Matt.
He wondered if replanting was a good idea for this church.

After many phone calls and emails and conversations back and forth, all bathed in prayer and the invocation for discernment and blessing,
he became a church planter.
Confident that God has worked in the past and that God desires justice and flourishing for his community, Ben continues to walk in step with the Spirit with hopeful and joyful anticipation.
