I talked to a pastor a few weeks ago who had been trying something new for Sunday gatherings.
A bit of a “church experiment.”
I asked how it was going – knowing that we as a people are something resistant to change!
Sometimes we just like things the way they are!
I was encouraged by his response.
He said there’s still differing views.
Not everyone is on board.
Some people love it.
Others aren’t so sure.
But – and this is evidence of the grace of God and the Spirit at work in our hearts –
there was continued conversation.
A persistence and determination to love each other – regardless of the new church structure.
There was unity.
Who knows if this new way of doing things will become permanent?
Or if things will go back to the familiar way of doing things.
Or maybe some sort of combination.
But I can’t help imagining God’s pleasure at how this church is navigating these changes.
It’s a little light in a dark world.
