Summer Cookout – ECWA

Peter Johnson and the congregation at ECWA (Evangelical Churches Winning All) recently held a summer cookout at a local park. This Nigerian congregation led by Peter and Deborah meets at Erindale Chapel in Mississauga and actively looks for ways to reach their neighbours with the love of Jesus.

Peter said the cookout was “the best one ever – very, very wonderful”!

They had prayed for great weather (which they had) but even more on their hearts was the desire to meet people who were spiritually hungry for the truth and love of God. They had printed flyers for their United in Worship event coming up and for their summer children’s program – ready to invite whoever might be interested.

One woman came with her children – thanks to an invitation from a friend from work. She is now registering her child for the church summer program.

One man recognized the ECWA t-shirts from Nigeria and wanted one.

Another woman came from an apartment building that the church had specifically been praying for.

Some Chinese people were dancing in the park and Peter joined in. They wanted to hear about ECWA and Peter gladly shared.

Then they met a Moroccan disco group and Peter danced with them too. They also were glad to meet Peter and asked if they could do this every week.

A worker from the city park joined them for the cookout and they also had the chance to get to know him.

Pray that all these seeds will find fertile ground.
