Spiritual Direction for Leaders

Former pastors, Mark and Petra Anderson are coaches and spiritual directors.
Over the years they have walked alongside many VMC church planters.
They offer spiritual direction as a safe space to encounter God.
They don’t tell you what to do or what God is saying, but instead help you to focus your attention on God and to hear His voice.
It is very much the chance to slow down, listen, and pay attention.
“What is God saying?”
“What is God inviting me into right now?”
“What is God asking of me?”
“What is God longing to give me?”

As we move from modernism to post-modernism, there is a shift from certainty to mystery.
Spiritual direction is a move towards mystery – something the best systematic theologians have always emphasized.
We’re used to orthodoxy and right practices but it takes humility and courage to embrace mystery.

Mark and Petra offer spiritual direction to faith leaders simply because it is a biblical practice.
Going all the way back to Genesis when God asks Adam and Eve, “Where are you?” – this was the first spiritual direction question ever asked!
It was a chance for Adam and Eve to stop and consider where God was in their situation.
Jesus consistently engaged in spiritual direction throughout the gospels.
“What are you looking for?”
“Who do you believe that I am?”
“Do you want to be well?”
These are all questions that caused people to pause, integrate their knowledge and lived experience, and explore deeper relationship with Jesus.

If spiritual direction is something you’re considering, please be in touch and we can connect you.
