More students than expected!
That’s the good problem that Mount Carmel Bible College in Edmonton, AB is dealing with.
Mount Carmel is a one year discipleship program that equips young men and women to know God and live for Him.
Their program focuses on community, service, and learning.
Founded more than 50 years ago, Mount Carmel has faithfully formed and provided community for many people over the years.
This coming fall, the college is full with the highest enrolment in 20 years – 36 students!
While it’s not about the numbers, there is such joy knowing that young people are hungry for God and want to walk in the ways of Jesus.
This is God at work.
Nils Reuter, president of Mount Carmel, detects a real desire among their students for community, personal growth, and to know God.
“There’s gotta be more to faith than this” reveals the holy dissatisfaction that young people feel as they yearn for a real encounter with God.
The disconnection and loneliness that is hardwired into our current way of life is pushing people to intentionally grow in their faith with others.
Nils realizes what a gift the experience of Christian community has been to former students.
Mount Carmel has been a safe place for students to wrestle through some of the complex issues of our time, while grounding themselves in the truth and love of Jesus.
While this is exciting times for Mount Carmel, Nils is aware that the staff’s constant reliance on God is crucial in the year to come.
To keep praying and to remember that it is God who redeems and transforms.
Thank God with us as we celebrate these young men and women who are spending a year purposefully pursuing deeper spiritual life.
To God be the glory!
