God Carrying the Load – Nordegg Community Church

Dave and Crystie didn’t plan to be church planters.

They have other jobs and they didn’t imagine themselves as pastors.

To be honest, they sometimes feel like Moses – inadequate and sometimes reluctant.

But the church sorta fell into their laps and so they do what they can.

They get encouragement and counsel from VMC which is great.

But they’re the ones on the ground.

Often their prayer on the way to church is –

“Well, God – we don’t have a whole lot. So this is up to you.”

They remind themselves that it isn’t their church anyways – it’s God’s.

And they’re trusting that God will do what God wants to do in their community.

And guess what?

God is providing for and building up this community of faith in Nordegg, AB.

A few years ago, there were some Sundays when they were the only ones who showed up.

This past Christmas – they had 75 people packed in for their Christmas Eve service!

They’re seeing numerical growth and they’re seeing people grow in openness to each other and to God.

People are getting to know one another and taking care of each other.

People who used to be opposed to church are now curious and stepping into the church building.

Dave and Crystie do what they can but they also know God to be trustworthy so they’re trusting God to carry the heavy load.
