The Chinese Church Association began in January 2021. Under the umbrella of VMC, in its first year of operation, the CCA helped plant two churches. “One of the goals of the CCA is to plant churches in Ontario and across Canada,” says CCA founder Ming Peng Gong. In 2021, CCA helped plant a Mandarin-speaking congregation in Richmond Hill. “I started mentoring Luke He two years ago,” says Ming Peng. When God stirred Luke’s heart to plant a church, Ming Peng knew he would be a good fit for the emerging work in Richmond Hill.
The other church plant is an English speaking service launched from a partnership among three Chinese congregations in Toronto. John De Los Santos is a part-time pastor for the joint English service. He also leads the youth ministry at Don Valley Bible Chapel parttime. “We pray that our next generation will be raised up to share the gospel and do missions,” says Ming Peng.
Ming Peng and other Chinese leaders got to know immigrant leaders in the VMC network through prayer meetings and various gatherings. “The Lord has blessed Chinese churches financially.” On trips back to China, Ming Peng shared the needs of ethnic pastors working among Afghans, Iranians, Africans, Burmese and other immigrants in Canada. “Through CCA we were able to financially support 18 ethnic pastors,” says Ming Peng. Some of the CCA churches, including Ming Peng’s, also sponsor Afghan refugees.
CCA has not wasted any time pursuing its mission and objectives!
CCA objectives include:
- Support and cooperate with other CCA churches
- Promote planting more Chinese churches throughout Canada
- Develop English ministries among Chinese churches so the next generation can advance the gospel in Canada and beyond
- Promote the great Commission among churches so the gospel can be carried to the whole world
- Support the gospel ministries of immigrant churches in the VMC network
