“Peanut Community”

By Vision, January 27, 2021

The “peanut community” is home for Don Valley Bible Chapel.
This neighbourhood gets its nickname from a major road that outlines their hood in the shape of a peanut.

But how this church served its community this summer wasn’t peanuts at all!

When the pandemic hit, social services were scrambling to look after the most vulnerable in the community.
Lower income families, new immigrants, those suffering with mental health.
Access to food – healthy food – became an issue.

The folks at DVBC worked alongside the local food bank and other community organizations to hire local chefs and offer takeout meals.
Vegetarian meals, chicken and rice, meatloaf, spaghetti.
Every week this summer, healthy tasty meals were given out.

Reminds us of the words in Matthew 25, when Jesus says “when I was hungry, you gave me something to eat…”
