In April I participated in a one day denominational leaders meeting at the Salvation Army’s Jacksons Point facility. 21 denominations were represented. Each denominational leader took time to update us on what was happening in their ministries and in their personal lives. After each one spoke, the person next to them prayed. Everyone was remarkably transparent.
There were two presentations, Willy Reimer of the Mennonite Brethren and myself presented on church planting. Dialogue followed.
Willard Metzger of the Mennonite Church of Canada and Sam Chaise of Canadian Baptist Ministries presented on International Mission. Again dialogue followed.
What’s the benefit of a gathering like this?
- The unity of body of Christ is wonderfully evident
- Each leader is willing to share their best practices with everyone else around the table
- A bond develops. We get to know each other and can call each other and get an immediate response.
I wish every believer in Canada could see the unity that exists in a setting like this one!
