Steadiness of a Congregation – Wasaga Community Church

A few years ago, the founding pastor of Wasaga Community Church retired.
He had been there for almost 20 years and was much loved by his congregation.
Then Jon Dart, one of VMC’s Transitional Pastors, stepped in for almost two years to help the congregation prepare for new leadership.
It meant reflecting on the past and thinking about the future.
It involved working through the vision of the church and then the work of discerning what the right fit might look like for new pastoral leadership.

Then a few years ago, the congregation at Wasaga Community Church were led to hire Thanga and Christina Nohro as co-pastors.
Thanga and Christina have years of experience with YWAM and leading music ministry in India.
Wasaga is Christina’s home town and there’s a natural affection on their part for this community.
Co-pastoring is new for this congregation but they were willing to take a risk!
It seemed like it was God’s leading and a good decision.

All in all, it was alot of work.

It took much time and energy on behalf of the congregation.
But there was a steadiness and faithfulness that the congregation embodied that spoke of their trust in God.
Amidst all the changes, they persevered and kept the hope that God was doing good.
That alone is the sustaining power of the Spirit.
