Forestview Church exists to be a community where people meet Jesus and become more like Him. This mission is what drives our weekly Sunday morning worship gatherings. We are seeking an Interim Pastor of Worship & Sunday Gatherings to provide  leadership and support to this vital ministry.

Forestview is a non-denominational congregation of 400+ people located in Oakville, Ontario. While we have Brethren roots, we self-identify as an independent, missional, broadly evangelical church that collaborates with other like-minded congregations across Canada. We are a member of Vision Ministries Canada and we are committed to incarnational, missional ministry throughout the Halton region.

Role Summary

We are seeking a passionate, gifted, and organized individual to join the Forestview ministry team as the Interim Pastor of Worship & Sunday Gatherings. This role involves providing leadership and vision to Forestview’s Worship ministry as well as working alongside the Lead Pastor to develop our Sunday gatherings so that they are the best that they can be.

About our Worship Gatherings

Through our Sunday morning worship gatherings, we strive to form disciples of Jesus by worshiping together, hearing teaching from scripture and sharing Communion. While our services predominantly feature contemporary worship music, we also draw from various worship and liturgical sources from around the world and throughout history. We are interested in anything that helps us grow and live faithfully as disciples of Jesus.

Our Sunday  worship gatherings are both in person and live streamed. A link to our live stream is available at www.forestviewchurch.ca.

Position Title: Interim Pastor of Worship & Sunday Gatherings
Hours: 20 hours/week
Coach and Direct Reports: Lead Pastor
Teams: Staff Team, Worship Team, Tech Team, Stream Team, Communion Team
Starting Date: September 2024
Ending Date: August 2025

Essential Skills & Strengths

  • Passionate about Jesus and the Bible.
  • Able to disciple and walk with people in their faith journey, regardless of what stage they are in.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Strong singing skills and able to effectively lead the congregation in worship.
  • Proficient in playing one or more musical instruments commonly used in contemporary worship (e.g., piano, guitar).
  • Able to effectively lead music rehearsals and equip and empower volunteer worship leaders and musicians.
  • Able to think reflectively about elements of worship gatherings and give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Strong interpersonal and connecting skills.
  • Strong recruitment skills with the ability to develop and motivate the various volunteer teams that  are involved in the  Sunday morning gatherings.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, confident and flexible.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to plan Sunday worship services and special holiday services.
  • Oversee scheduling and resourcing of volunteers for worship services.
  • Function as the primary worship leader for the majority of weekend services and special holiday services throughout the year.
  • Initiate the recruitment, training and development of volunteers in the worship ministry at Forestview.
  • Work with volunteer teams to pursue excellence in our Sunday morning worship gatherings by providing clear guidance and constructive feedback.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and bi-weekly coaching and check-in meetings with Lead Pastor.

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music, Worship Arts, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience serving in a similar role within a church or ministry.
  • Experience with audiovisual technology and sound reinforcement systems.
  • Experience with ProPresenter and Planning Center software, as well as other current tools for music production and performance and administration is desirable.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of liturgical elements, with an understanding of how to select music and service elements that engages a diverse congregation.
  • Experience in leading band rehearsals and coaching musicians.
